Saint Luke’s has an active choir program led by our music director Joyce Ottinger. The choir rehearses Sunday Mornings before service, and supplies music for services from September to early June. At Saint Luke’s we embrace a wide range of musical styles; from our beautiful traditional Episcopal hymns, to spirituals, selections from the Taipei community, and more contemporary choices as well. With our von Beckerath organ, Steinway concert Grand piano, and wonderful acoustics, Saint Luke’s is a very special place for music! If you would like to be part of our choir, we would love to have you join us! Contact Joyce Ottinger at joyce_ottinger@yahoo.com
The organ at Saint Luke’s was built in Hamburg, Germany By the esteemed von Beckerath Organ builders. It is a two manual mechanical tracker, with electrical stop action, 18 stops,
and one thousand one hundred and sixty-eight pipes. The organ was designed specifically for St. Luke’s and was a most generous gift to the parish. It arrived from Germany late Fall of 2003 and was ready for its debut in Spring of 2004. Anthony Newman played the dedicatory recital. Beckerath organs can be found in many countries around the world; including India, Russia, Australia, and Japan, as well as throughout Europe and in Montreal, Canada.
